What is a Photobook?
A photobook is a book—with or without text—where the work’s primary message is carried with photographs. It is a book authored by a photographer or by someone editing and sequencing the work of a photographer, or even a number of photographers. Gerry Badger / Martin Parr
Important Dates
- Registration open from March 25th to June 15th, 2010 through www.editorialrm.com.
- A list of Frequently Asked Questions will be posted at www.editorialrm.com as of April 30th, 2010.
- Last day submissions will be accepted: July 30th, 2010.
- The winning entry will be announced on August 31st, 2010 at www.editorialrm.com.
Selection Criteria
The jury will consider submissions that meet the following requirements:
- Suitable for publication in book form with maximum dimensions of 24 × 30 cm (an essential requirement). Editorial RM will undertake the printing of the book in accord with its standard production methods.
- A maximum of 128 pages.
- Work produced in the last five years.
- Completely unpublished (work previously published in book form will not be accepted).
Material to be submitted
Each submission must be accompanied by:
- A printed registration form
- A Word file containing:
a) Name of author(s), title, format, and number of pages.
b) Number of photographs and description of original format (photographic plates and/or digital).
c) A brief description (300 words maximum).
d) Complete contact information.
- A pdf of the proposal (a dummy of the photobook) on CD-ROM or DVD.
- A dummy of the book in printed form with maximum dimensions of 24 × 30 cm (optional).
Important Notes
- Submissions that do not meet the above requirements will be disqualified immediately.
- Forms or formats of submission other than CD-ROM or DVD will not be accepted.
- Submissions sent by postal or courier service will be accepted up to a week following the limit for submissions, providing they are postmarked July 30th, 2010 or earlier.
- None of the submissions will be returned.
- Work must be presented in photobook format, but there are no restrictions on the content of the images. The publishers reserves the right to modify the design in accord with their judgment and the agreement of
the winner.
- In order to avoid customs delays, the package should bear the indication “Muestra sin fines comerciales/Non-commercial value” in a visible place, and a value of less than US$2.00 be declared.
- Editorial RM shall not be liable for shipping costs or customs duties of packages that arrive directly at th
post office.
- Shipment by FedEx, UPS, DHL, or other similar means is recommended.
