A catalogue of the exhibition of the same name held in the Museo de la Ciudad de México from December 2007 to March 2008, this “souvenir album” contains an ample selection of postcards from the most important collections in Mexico, gathered together to recount the key moments of the city’s history over the last one hundred years. Through them we see the transformations, diversity, and contrasts of Mexico City.
The volume includes an exhaustive historical study of the origins and development of the postcard in Mexico and the most important places and events represented. If in their day postcards were the most effective means of seeing, imagining, and dreaming of distant geographies, these images come from our own city; from a distance remote not in space but in time.
