This book presents a collection of projects, defined from the title as “10 Lost Competitions, 1 Success,” authored by Lucio Muniain, one of the most interesting figures in the contemporary Mexican architecture scene. If the common thread is the criteria of unrealized projects, each one approaches a typology that reflects a versatility of considerations related to programs and contexts. In this way, public and private works, corporate buildings and housing coexist, revealing the challenges assumed by the architect in the process of conceiving projects that remain virtual.
The publication presents a collection of sketches and renders, configuring a map that approaches the most diverse areas of intervention. The eminent graphic character of the volume invites a reading, as free as it is complex, conferring visual autonomy to this decisive instance of architecture: the project.
The book closes with a conversation in which the author, more than explain the projects, unfolds the questions and answers that underlie the development of each project.
