The importance of the People’s Graphic Workshop (the Taller de Gráfica Popular, or TGP) in the relations between art and politics in post-revolutionary Mexico remains a focus of wide-ranging research. One of the central exponents of the TGP was Leopoldo Méndez (1902-1969), who was the object of two large exhibitions on the occasion of the one-hundredth anniversary of his birth: Leopoldo Méndez y su tiempo. Colección Carlos Monsiváis and Leopoldo Méndez: el privilegio del dibujo. The richness and importance of the two showings have been preserved in this volume, which offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of this great engraver through images and texts.
