edrm was founded with the aim of making a modest contribution to a wider knowledge and appreciation of modern Mexican art and literature. Our catalogue now contains more than 100 titles, including 18 books that are already out of print.

From the beginning, Editorial RM has sought to find room on its list for the lesser-known names of Mexican art as well as the established figures. We have recently expanded our scope, in the same spirit, to the modern art and literature of other countries. One of the things that especially interests us is the task of making better known the least appreciated work of Mexico’s most celebrated creators, such as artists’ bookplates, the book illustrations of Rufino Tamayo, and the spontaneous Polaroids of Manuel Álvarez Bravo. An important part of this effort to recover work that has been forgotten or neglected is the Biblioteca de Ilustradores Mexicanos (the Library of Mexican Illustrators, or BIM), which now comprises eleven titles. Our efforts have benefited from the friendly support of cultural institutions in Mexico, the United States, Spain, Puerto Rico, and Japan.

Editorial RM has always strived to publish quality books, as remarkable for their design and typography as for their contents. We would like to offer our gratitude here for the work and dedication of the many collaborators –designers, writers, researchers, translators, and many more– who have accompanied us in our venture.
